15 Things: Land that Dream Job


How to Land that Dream Job

  1. Arrive no more than 10 minutes early.
  2. Bring 2 copies of a clean, fully revised resume (or more).
  3. Dress professionally (clean & pressed).
  4. Fill out application form completely (remember to bring references).
  5. Address cover letter and resume to an actual person.
  6. Be specific on your objective. Say the position that you are applying for.
  7. Research company before interview (look up website, read articles, ect.).
  8. Know the clients of the company.
  9. Research your career and it's salary range. Have your number in mind when you go into the interview. Remember you won't make the big bucks right away.
  10. Have a list of questions to ask the employer about the company, the position, ect.
  11. Prepare for frequently asked questions. Know your strengths, weaknesses, and what makes you tick.
  12. Be prepared to talk about relevant experiences (work, internships, class projects, extra cirricular activities).
  13. Be alert, have good eye contact, good posture, positive body language, and smile.
  14. Make your first and last impressions count-they are the most important.
  15. Always send a Thank You after an interview. Either by email, by mail, or both.
